Although I was drawn to
art at an early age, it wasn’t until my early 20’s that I made the
decision to become an artist. I
began my career as a children’s book illustrator and taught art to young
children for several years. With
the death of my mother in 1994 my life in art began to take on a new
meaning. My current work is
the result of a personal journey through that loss.
My paintings explore the timeless psychology of human behavior
where color, texture and scattered pephemera attempt to recreate the
patterns and rhythms of life. Each
layer draws attention to the forces below, allowing for a deeper sense of
understanding, a sense of believing. Each
painting represents the combination of purity and honesty.
They offer a method for finding new hopes and beginnings, as I did.
I
received my BA in Art from California State University, Northridge and my
MFA from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. I teach art to
students of all ages and continue to paint daily.
